Dr. Eggman heads to LEGO HQ in latest LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog video

The promotion for LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog continues with a detailed overview into Dr. Eggman’s takeover of the LEGO Group’s Billund HQ.

As teased on Sonic Central in June, Carl Merriam is the latest thrall of Dr. Eggman as the designer is being used to inflitrate the LEGO Campus in Billund on a quest to make LEGO Dr. Eggman sets and, presumably, destroy Sonic the Hedgehog after taking over the world.

Various other LEGO designers cameo in the video, expanding on the story that was first told in the Sonic Central livestream. Dr. Eggman’s other recent endeavours include a catchy rap and some comments on his brick-built version in 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone

There are Easter eggs for Sonic the Hedgehog enthusiasts to recognise too, including content not yet covered in LEGO sets such as the Chao. In the background of one scene, what could be a prototype render of the Speed Sphere launcher is on display.

Dr. Eggman’s plans for a giant statue don’t quite go to plan but the massive minifigure outside the headquarters now looks more like the villain in any case. Thankfully, it seems unlikely that this is a permanent change, much to Dr. Eggman’s likely disapproval.

The LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog sets, including Dr. Eggman, launch on August 1 with five coming on release day.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
