LEGO designer reveals 10312 Jazz Club showcases never-seen elements

New modular building LEGO Icons 10312 Jazz Club debuts two new pieces – including one that wasn’t created for this set originally.

Since the official reveal of 10312 Jazz Club, the first modular building to be released in 2023, there’s been plenty to pick apart in the 2,899-piece set. From its very different origins to its magical minifigure first, the set has plenty to offer, despite not enthusing some fans during the early rumour stage.

One element is actually making its debut in this set, despite not being originally intended for 10312 Jazz Club. The set is split into two buildings, a jazz club (giving it its name) and a pizzeria. To feed the patrons, there’s a brick-built stone oven in the kitchen, including a new wheel arch piece.

“The Modular Buildings, as far as I know, have never had an element specifically developed for them, but because they are released at the start of the year we sometimes get to debut new elements before they appear elsewhere,” LEGO Designer Anderson Grubb told Brickset.

While we don’t know where this wheel arch will appear, it will be on its way in the set it was designed for some time during 2023, we assume. What’s more, 10312 Jazz Club also gave another element an opportunity to shine that might otherwise have never seen the light of day.

“The double bass element was actually designed for VIDIYO, but never used,” Anderson added. “The accessory went all the way through to mould development, so it was just there for the taking. It would be a shame to have it come all that way and then for it never to see the light of day!”

10312 Jazz Club is set to be released on LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores on January 1, 2023 and will be priced at £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.

It looks like there is a new masonry brick in the tenth product image. The piece looks as though it is a 2 by 4 brick.
