LEGO Star Wars magazine’s 100th issue offers up double droid figures

A pair of familiar droid figures will be given away free with the upcoming 100th issue of the official LEGO Star Wars magazine.

Immediate Media’s official LEGO Star Wars magazine has been on something of an impressive minifigure streak recently. Issue 97 of the title recently included a free Scout Trooper, with issue 98 currently on shelves in the UK featuring an Imperial Stormtrooper minifigure.

Now Promobricks is reporting that the 100th issue of the licensed title will come with a pair of droids from a galaxy far, far away, at least in Germany. Issue 99 of LEGO Star Wars magazine in that territory features a sneak peek at what’s to come for the following month, with preview images of a C-3PO minifigure and a new brick-built Gonk Droid design free with the publication.

From the looks of it, the C-3PO minifigure appears to be the exact same version that’s included with both 75339 Death Star Trash Compactor Diorama and the recently-released 75365 Yavin 4 Rebel Base. This version of the fussy protocol droid boasts new printed arms and purchasing LEGO Star Wars magazine would definitely be a much cheaper way of obtaining the character.

In addition, issue 100 of the publication also comes with an updated Gonk Droid figure, which may well be much sought after by collectors. The most recent version of the walking battery was last seen in 75347 TIE Bomber, with an Imperial variant of the droid included. The new brick-built version looks to have a printed front piece and black legs, making it unique in a number of ways.

LEGO Star Wars magazine issue 100 is due on sale in Germany from September 8, with issue 98 currently available in the UK, complete with a free mini AT-AT build. It’s not yet known if the 100th issue of the UK title will include both droids, but we’ll certainly be keeping our photoreceptors peeled.
