LEGO Star Wars 5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible GWP review

5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible is a strangely-named, quite unique LEGO Star Wars gift-with-purchase available this May the 4th.

From May 1 through to May 7, LEGO.com and LEGO Stores are offering up 5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible as a free gift-with-purchase for anyone spending £80 / $85 / €85 or more on LEGO Star Wars, while stocks last.

Given the plethora of eye-catching new sets releasing on May 1, that’s not going to be too difficult, but does that mean this gift-with-purchase is worth it?

Yes. Much as in the same design spirit as last year’s May the 4th gift-with-purchase Beskar key chain, 5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible is such an odd, unique item that interprets ‘LEGO Star Wars’ in a wholly different way.

The name doesn’t tell you much about what it is, which is a collectible coin in a similar style to those we have recently seen offered up in the VIP rewards section of LEGO.com, but presented in its own box that doubles as a display stand, complete with a printed plastic transparent cover. The coin has the Death Star II moulded into it and that same design is printed on the cover, for the two to line up when put in the display box for a quite nice overall presentation.

In the mid-range of the LEGO Group’s May the 4th promotional items in 2023, 5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible isn’t the most premium of products, but it does have a novelty value that more than makes up for that. There’s nothing really like this and for any LEGO Star Wars collector it’s a must-have, and for any LEGO Star Wars fan it’s just a pretty cool additional item. Either way, nothing to complain about when reaching the spend threshold to pick up.

5007840 Return of the Jedi Collectible is available May 1 to 7 at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores while stocks last, awarded with LEGO Star Wars purchases of £80 / $85 / €85 or more.

During this same period, LEGO Star Wars spends of £35 / $40 / €40 or more will land 30654 X-wing Starfighter, while spends of £130 / $150 / €150 or more will net you 40591 Death Star II, all while stocks last.
